What's New in MiniCoder โ€” May 2026

We've shipped a batch of quality-of-life improvements this month, all aimed at making your apps reliable, your discovery experience richer, and our team smarter about what's working.

๐ŸŒ 6 languages now supported

You can now build and use MiniCoder in English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Hindi. Pick your language from the dropdown in the top right, or just type your app idea in your language โ€” we'll detect it and your generated app will speak it too.

Smarter, more reliable app generation

Sometimes an AI model will trip on a complex request โ€” it might run out of room mid-sentence or pause to "think" for too long. We've taught the platform to notice that and quietly retry your generation with a simpler, faster backup model. You'll keep getting working apps even when the first attempt struggles.

When we do swap to the backup, you'll see a small amber heads-up right above the preview. No surprises โ€” and if anything looks off, you can tell us with the new feedback buttons.

๐Ÿ‘ / ๐Ÿ‘Ž buttons after every app

We've added two tiny buttons right after every generation: ๐Ÿ‘ Yes, it works! and ๐Ÿ‘Ž Didn't work for me. The buttons show up only for fresh creations (not when you re-open a saved app), and they live in both the compact preview and the full-screen popup view.

When you tap ๐Ÿ‘Ž, an optional text box appears so you can tell us what went wrong. Skip it or write a sentence โ€” either way, we read every single one.

A better App Store

The community App Store now has four ways to browse:

  • ๐Ÿ†• Newest โ€” fresh apps first (the default).
  • ๐Ÿ”ฅ Top This Week โ€” apps getting stars right now.
  • โญ Top All Time โ€” the most-loved apps ever.
  • ๐ŸŽฎ Most Played โ€” the apps everyone keeps coming back to. Each card now shows a play count.

Whether you want to see what just shipped or discover the all-time-greats, it's one click away.

โญ Star notifications by email

When someone stars one of your published apps, we'll now send you a short email letting you know. No setup needed โ€” it just works for everyone with an email on file.

Polish you might not notice but will feel

  • No more cropped apps. Tall apps used to hide their top and bottom edges. Now everything scrolls properly.
  • Tips while you wait. The 20-second build wait now shows 50 rotating tips and trivia (in random order) instead of a silent spinner.
  • Less eye-strain. We removed some background animations that were causing flicker, and we now respect your system's "reduced motion" setting.
  • Voice input was failing for some users. Fixed.
  • Out-of-tokens message now actually tells you you're out of tokens instead of "Oops, something went wrong".
  • Broken icons in My Creations (the privacy toggle and delete button) are back.

Behind the scenes: better cost & moderation tools

We invested in our admin tools this month so we can keep the platform safe and sustainable as more of you join:

  • Every published app is now reviewable by the team โ€” we can pull anything down quickly if it doesn't fit our values (we want this to be a great place for kids).
  • We have a proper user view now with stats per person, so we can tell who's getting the most out of MiniCoder and reach out.
  • We can see exactly which model generated each app and what it cost, so we can keep prices fair and the experience snappy.

Late-May update โ€” extra polish you can feel

We kept shipping in the second half of May. The list below is the highlight reel โ€” small individually, but together they make the whole app feel noticeably tighter.

  • Full interface in 6 languages. The menus, buttons, and labels now translate into Hindi, Spanish, Portuguese, and French (German and English were already covered). Pick your language from the new flag dropdown in the top-right โ€” and yes, the flags actually render as flags now, even on Windows.
  • Mini-games while you wait, on your terms. The loader now ships with 21 quick mini-games. You control when (or if) to switch with Prev / Next โ€” no more rotating on you while you're mid-tap.
  • Keep playing while "Make it better" is cooking. Asking the AI to tweak your app no longer locks you out of playing it. A slim banner at the top of the popup says "modifyingโ€ฆ keep playing or try a mini-game" and you really can keep playing the current version until the new one is ready.
  • Closing the loader actually closes it. If you change your mind mid-generation, hitting the X cancels the request so you can keep browsing โ€” instead of leaving /home stuck on a half-state and popping the generated app back up 20 seconds later.
  • App Store cards redesigned. Each app now shows a colorful author avatar, a clean date, and pill-style stats for stars and plays โ€” easier to scan, friendlier to look at.
  • My Creations got the same treatment. A proper stat row (Creations / Public / Private) instead of a run-on sentence, a delete icon tucked in the top-right of each card, and a warm-orange "Create Something New" CTA so the page doesn't feel entirely purple.
  • Action buttons in the popup are labelled. "Make it better", "Save", "Publish", "Share" โ€” clear pill buttons instead of four floating colored circles.
  • Dialogs feel like one app now. Save, modify, and voice-input dialogs share a consistent header bar, fade in with a gentle slide-up, and have a real close button in the top-right.
  • Star notifications got friendlier. When someone stars your app, the email is now properly branded, shows you who starred which app, and has a one-tap button to play it again โ€” plus tips for what to build next.

What's coming next

  • Classroom-friendly features โ€” we're talking to teachers already using MiniCoder with their students about what would make it easier (shared classroom codes, pooled tokens, class-only galleries).
  • In-app notifications โ€” a bell icon in the header so you can see new stars without leaving MiniCoder.
  • Mini-app platform features โ€” leaderboards and shared scores for game apps, so your friends can see who's on top.

As always, thank you for building with us โ€” the apps you make are what keep this project going. Got an idea? Hit the ๐Ÿ‘/๐Ÿ‘Ž or use the feedback bubble; we read everything.
